Cafe This Way

Opens early at 6:30 daily until 1pm with inside and outside seating available. They are open during season from May until October. Breakfast is first come, first served.
Their breakfast covers the local favorites, scrambles, and benedicts. They have a vegan option on their menu as well. Right off the main square in the heart of bar harbor down a quiet street is Cafe This Way.
Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast

Known for being open for all those up early enough to catch the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain. After coming down from Acadia National Park head to Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast. For a great breakfast with the freshest ingredients. You can get the Famous Betty’s Blueberry Pancakes or for a gluten-free option try the gluten free and dairy free pancakes. This is a Maine staple and located right in the heart of Bar Harbor on Cottage Street.
Choco-Latte Cafe

With dog friendly outdoor seating right on Main Street and wifi, it is a haven for digital nomads. Or anyone needing a locally roasted coffee and fresh bagel. Great coffee options, as they serve coffee sources from Acadia Coffee company, but they are known for their Hot Chocolate and Choco-latté (a specialty latté with house-made chocolate syrup, and a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, & ginger). For breakfast they are dishing up, avocado toast, Build Your Own Breakfast Sandwich or house made bagels and spreads. However, Hang around until 11:30 to try their lunch options.

A small cafe in an exceptional location. With a few tables inside but outside a spectacular view of Mt. Desert Narrows and Bar Island. If you signed up for whale watching and need snacks for the boat or just want a coffee by the water this is the place to grab baked goods, that Lobster Crepe we talked about, or a breakfast sandwich. Great for quick grab and go breakfast sandwiches.

Off the beaten path but still only a mile from the village green, the Looking Glass Restaurant lives up to its name. An incredible view of Frenchman Bay over an elevated American full breakfast. Winner of the “Best Breakfast with a View” in all of Maine by Yankee Magazine. Located next to The Bluenose Inn and The Wonder View Inn. On the menu they are serving Maine blueberry pancakes, lobster egg benedict, build your own egg scrambles, and more.

Heading up to sunrise at Cadillac Mountain? This is another open early option to pick up a great coffee, a bagel with cream cheese, or one of the breakfast sandwiches to eat while you have the incredible view of the sunrise over Bar Harbor. A delicious bakery tucked in a house on Cottage Street downtown Bar Harbor. If you have more time and aren't chasing sunrise they have great shaded outdoor seating right on Cottage street. You can easily find street parking and pop into this great spot. If you are vegan or vegetarian you will also find options for you in the bakery and on the menu like the vegan blueberry pie made with Maine blueberries of course.
Coffee Matter

With the slogan ‘Life is short, drink good coffee’ easily one of my favorite visits from the Bar Harbor breakfast adventure. Taking coffee seriously they have a selection of espresso drinks, cold brew and Nitro, pour overs, and specialty drinks. For breakfast they serve breakfast bowls and breakfast toast all with daily fresh fruit and vegetable offerings. Also, side note home to Mother’s Kitchen that offers an incredible lunch.
Coffee Hound Coffee Co. at the Stadium

Located right next to the Historic Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop is The Stadium smack dab in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor. Known for the delicious Signature Lattes named after local places and the lobster roll. Their mission is to bring ‘The Best Lobster Roll In The World’ to the people. Downstairs is the coffee and bakery for a delicious breakfast that is grab-n-go but upstairs is the lobster pound.
This great place was a frequent stop during my time in Bar Harbor, one of my favorite sunday morning activities was picking up a Iced Maple Leaf (double espresso, maine maple syrup, and milk) and a popover, walking over to Agamont Park finding a bench and watching the boats go in and out of Frenchman Bay.
Everyday Joe’s

On the quieter side of Main Street, this unassuming no fuss breakfast & lunch spot is open 6am - 2pm everyday and one of the few spots in town open year round. Connected to one of only 3 gas stations and the only laundry mat in town it's a convenient stop. If you want a laid back option for a good breakfast this is your place. On the breakfast menu you can find the classics Omelets, Breakfast Sandwiches, Breakfast Burrito, and Pancakes — Maine blueberry ones too, it's a giving at this point.
Side note – The Cadillac mountain shuttle drops off and picks up, in the parking lot of the Sunoco gas station that is next to Everyday Joe’s.
Reading Room Restaurant

Located in the Historic Bar Harbor Inn dating back to 1887, overlooking the beautiful ocean this is a fine dining experience. If you are looking for a more elevated breakfast this is your place. Breakfast is available March 30th - November 10th from 7 am to 10:30 am. Known for its Chef curated local Maine cuisine and excellent service next to a panoramic ocean view. Reservations are recommended and are available on OpenTable.

A cute spin off for all of us Friends fans. This little coffee shop or more like coffee counter is known for their blueberry macchiato as a unique drink to try. This a great convenient place right on the corner of Village Green, the green space square in the center of town, you can try a blueberry lavender latte or blueberry matcha latte and a Maine classic whoopie pie. Then stroll over to the square and find a place to sit and enjoy.
